Commissions!

emmageddon:

So, if you’ve seen my post yesterday, you’ll know that I’m opening fanfic commissions! Just a few slots at first, just to see how I go, and I still intend to work on other fanfic for free, but my financial situation is kinda… not good right now. I don’t want to go into a lot of details, but my bills are mounting up, and there have been a couple of months where the bank overdraft hasn’t been enough to cover everything. So here I am, opening up five slots for one-shot commissions.

So. Details.

Rules:

  • I’ll write SFW and NSFW.
  • I will not write paedophillia, incest, or bestiality. Those are absolutely off the table.
  • I reserve the right to refuse anything if the subject matter makes me uncomfortable, but the stuff listed above is definitely out of the question.
  • Payment is via PayPal.
  • I’m open to writing your OCs, as long as you fill out the character bio sheet I’ll provide with enough info for me to work from.
  • I’ll send the fic via email, if you provide one, after receiving payment. If not, I’ll post it up on AO3/FFN and tag you, just let me know if there’s a specific username you’d like me to tag.
  • If there’s a particular file format you want to receive the fic in, let me know.
  • If I do email it, I may also decide to post it on my AO3/FFN account as well, unless I’m asked not to.  If I do post it, it will be at least a week or so after I’ve sent it.
  • No poetry. I suck at poetry, it’s not pretty and neither of us will like it, lol
  • You can contact me to discuss your ideas through tumblr IM, asks or email me at sabulana@gmail.com. Please note that though anon is on for asks, if you’re requesting something kinky, I am going to have to answer that publicly. :/ If you want to commission something but don’t want anyone to know you’ve commissioned it, I can keep your username secret or not post it publicly.
  • I’m open to writing fandoms I’m not familiar with, but you will have to give me enough background info to go on, or give me time to do any research necessary.
  • If, at any time, I feel I will be unable to complete a commission for any reason after you’ve sent payment, I will refund the money.
  • Prices are set at £10 per 1000 words. You can set a target/range for how long you want the fic to be. If I go a little over, I won’t charge extra. I’m willing to negotiate prices, as long as it stays within reason. I’ll also accept payments in installments, if you want a fic of a certain length, but can’t afford the full payment at once, but please note that I’ll only send the fic once full payment has been received.
  • For now, I’m only allowing one-shots, at least until I finish the multi-chapter fanfics I’m already working on.
  • I will send updates to let you know how I’m progressing, query any details I may need and so on. My work schedule changes frequently, so there may be times where I’m unable to get on for days at a time, but I’ll do my best to update you at least once a week.

You can find examples of my writing here on my AO3 account.

My main fandom at the moment is Gotham, but I’ve also written for Dragon Age, Jak and Daxter, Final Fantasy VII, and others. I’m open to writing various pairings, tropes, genres - just let me know what you want and we can discuss it.

So if you’re interested, get in touch! IM me on tumblr, send me an ask or email me at sabulana@gmail.com.

Want to help me out but can’t/don’t want to commission right now? That’s fine! feel free to reblog this instead. You can also Buy Me a Coffee.

I, uh, think that’s it for now. If anything else becomes relevant, I’ll edit this post as necessary, or it can be discussed privately.

Bringing this back because my counselor advises that I need to quit my job ASAP for the sake of my health.

Or at least call in sick until I get another job.

Please also keep in mind that I’ll write original fic as well as fanfic if I have enough info to go on. :)

Please feel free to signal boost as well.

TIL that NASA has been launching jellyfish into space since the 90’s. Originally 2,478 were sent up and there were 60,000 orbiting Earth by the mission’s end 20 years later. The jellyfish that have returned reportedly ‘hate life on Earth.’

via reddit.com

Go you want to birth an Eldridge horror? This is how you birth an Eldridge horror

I want to know how they decided that they hate life on earth

I mean, who doesn’t

The “jellyfish that have returned” are the offspring of the ones sent up; they “hate life on Earth” because they were born into a world without gravity - no direction, different kinds of pressure, so when they return they have trouble adapting and (according to the Read More in the source) “Jellyfish babies, at least, have to deal with massive vertigo on Earth after spending their first few days in space,” which you can tell because you can measure how disoriented a jellyfish is compared with norma behavior. TL;DR your cthulu is an infant with a migraine

I have SO MANY questions, re:the jellyfish space habitat.

I mean I guess it’s probably just an airtight aquarium on board the ISS, but I read it the first several times as the jellyfish were just floating in open space.

Can I just say I love this person’s autocorrect changing ‘eldritch’ to ‘Eldrige.’

weirdest thing about videogames is finding new clothing/armor for your character on dead NPCs
like “its such a shame greg died but thank god his pants are just my size”

It’s such a shame this spider died. Good thing he was carrying pants, a helmet, and a sword.

“This wolf had five dollars!”

“This bear had a bear skin! Hey, this bear had two bear skins! Wait, did it steal the skin of another bear? Is there some kind of bear mafia, is that what’s going on here?”

i keep having this urge to write horror fic

except

i have no plot

no characters

just a deep-seated need to write something truly fucked up in a creepy way, with some cthulhu mythos cosmic horror shit thrown in.

just

ugh

but at the same time i also realise that i have other things i need to work on.

Unpopular opinion: Filler episodes are good because most of them provide a nice break from heavy plot lines and it’s fun to see what the characters are like in different situations and sometimes they’re just plain entertaining

THANK YOU

I almost always prefer “filler episodes” to “overarching plot” episodes.

OP, you are real one for this.

Filler episodes, like a good bottle episode, gives you more insight into your favorite characters.

Some of the best writing advice I ever got was if you’re stuck on a scene or a line, the problem is actually about 10 lines back and that’s saved me from writer’s block so many times.

I feel like I need an elaborate explanation

Often times, I find myself stuck on what a character should say next or what should happen in a scene to connect A to B or so on. When this happens, I fall into the trap of writing and rewriting the same few lines over and over, and becoming more and more dissatisfied every time until I give up.

But problem is almost never actually whatever line I’m trying to write at the moment; the issue is the stuff leading up to the line. Maybe there are structural issues with the set up, maybe I wrote a bit of dialogue that was out of character leading to a discussion that doesn’t make sense, maybe I’m missing a vital piece of exposition or expositing too much. It could be a lot of things, but the important part of the advice is to look back and be willing to consider changes to something earlier in the work (even if you’re really attached to like a piece of dialogue or a particular sentence or something) instead of trying to find a way to force out a scene that’s not working.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining!

This is really helpful!

Woah! I never thought about that! Thanks!

Reblog to have something good happen at 1:42 tomorrow

I saw this before I left work last night and had a quiet hope, and today I checked my phone at about quarter to two, while I was still on my lunch break, and I’ve just got a job interview with the BBC next week

I’m not a big believer in anything much but I’m so happy holy shit. So like unrelated note but something real good happened to me at 1.42 today lol
